Deconstructing religion. Reconstructing faith. Finding Christ unshaken.
A year or two ago, I wrote a book called Unshaken.
I finished it, sat with it, prayed about it, and waited. Yet publishing it as a book has never felt quite right. As time has passed, I have felt increasingly led to do something different with these words: simply give them away.
Unshaken is the story of my religious journey and the road that led me through questioning, deconstruction, searching, learning, unlearning, and ultimately reconstructing my faith in Christ.
For me, deconstruction was never about destroying my faith or walking away from Jesus. It was about becoming willing to examine what I believed, why I believed it, and whether the things I had been taught could withstand honest questions and the truth of Scripture.
Along the way, some things fell apart.
Some things changed.
But Christ remained.
What began as a book will now live here as a free blog series on Every Day Amen. I will be sharing my story piece by piece: the churches, beliefs, experiences, questions, hurts, discoveries, and moments that shaped my understanding of faith.
There is nothing to purchase and no paywall to get through. This story was written from my heart, and I believe the right thing to do with it now is simply share it.
If you have ever questioned what you were taught, struggled with church hurt, wrestled with Scripture, found yourself reevaluating long-held beliefs, or wondered whether your faith could survive your questions, I hope you will find something here that encourages you.
Because after all of my questioning, searching, deconstructing, and rebuilding, I didn’t find myself with less faith in Christ.
I found a faith that was unshaken.
